August 27th Margaret approves of a thorough consultation on post offices, but says no to their outright closure

Only four out of thirteen post offices are being looked at in Luton South during the consultation: High Town, Biscot Road, Slip End and Chapel Langley. These post offices are merely being assessed and Margaret is encouraging residents to let her know their thoughts.

4 million less people are using post offices each week and in 2007 they lost nearly £4 million pounds a week.

“A vote for a consultation is not a vote for closure. It was a vote for the future of the post office, to understand how they work and to understand how they can improve so we can ensure they bring benfits to future generations. I want residents to share their thoughts with me and join the debate for the sake of the whole community.”
