Bloor Homes have decided not to go ahead with their plans to build a development of 3000 homes on the east side of Luton.
Crime & Antisocial Behaviour
Margaret has spent much time working with young people in her Luton South constituency to discuss the issue of knife crime. It is her recommendation that the Bedfordshire Police hold sessions with young people to help combat the issue head on. She will keep up the pressure to ensure young people understand the real dangers of carrying knives and the ultimate consequences that could await them.
Flight Plan Changes (NATS)
NATS have decided to rethink their plans for changes in the westerly departure route from Luton Airport following pressure from constituents, MPs and airline operators. Margaret led the way in the opposition to the NATS plans. Her ‘Stop NATS in their Tracks’ campaign drew national attention to Luton’s outrage. She also convinced the council, Luton Airport, airport operators such as Monarch Airlines and even local businesses to make representations.
Luton Town Football Club
Margaret has been making representations to the Football League and has been lobbying them. She is deeply disappointed that they have decided to deduct 20 points from LTFC. She is also asking for the representatives of the main fan groups to join her and present the petition and letters from constituents to Gerry Sutcliffe. She is determined not to let two football bodies put small clubs like Luton out of business.
